Yes, this is exactly how it sounds – a unique adventure of paintball in an abandoned tuberculosis sanatorium from the 19th century. 

Hidden in the Woods

Nestled in the calming mountain woods of the magnificent mountain Medvednica, Brestovec Sanatorium once a state-of-the-art tuberculosis treatment spa, gave its patients a beautiful spot in which to relax and recuperate with an amazing view over the whole of Zagreb.

Back then it was believed that this horrific illness could be cured with fresh air, nutritious food and rest which is why the hospital was built almost on top of the mountain. Over time, medicine developed and the purpose of the place was gone leaving it to time and nature to take over.

Remains of Forgotten Times

Now, hidden in the woods, the remains of this old tuberculosis hospital have crumbled away into a haunting ruin. A reminder of forgotten times. From sanatorium to military hospital, the ruins of Brestovec are now ruled by paintball players.

The site still attracts visitors looking for adventure and has now become one of the most popular paintball locations in Zagreb.
